Scaldis Ship Spotting

Shipping pictures, mainly from the South part of the Netherlands, and interesting shipping news

Brief personal introduction.

All my life I have been fascinated by the maritime world. After first working on inland waterways at the shipping company Van Ommeren, I went to nautical college in Rotterdam. After that I worked for Anthony Veder and JO (Johnson/ Odfjell) tankers. After some non maritime related jobs, I went back to shipping and worked as a draught- and on/off hire surveyor. Always working on the ships was great, but a great job opportunity at Mammoet Maritime, I could not resist. In the end I worked my last years at Mammoet Westdorpe as operational manager at the multipurpose terminal located at the canal Ghent - Terneuzen.

I currently stopped working and took early retirement.

Now I have time for my hobby. That is spotting and taking pictures of ships. Most of the time near the Western Scheldt river and adjoining ports.
